The Church of Agios Nikolaos in the village of Kastro, part of the municipality of Kastro-Kyllini in the northwestern Peloponnese region of Greece, features a modern Greek Orthodox style, recognizable by its large central dome, rounded arches, and striking bell tower. It is located directly below the famous Chlemoutsi Castle (also known as Castel Tornese), which sits atop the hill in the background. The church is a central landmark in the village of Kastro, which is known for its strategic location overlooking the Ionian Sea and the islands of Zakynthos and Kefalonia.

Chlemoutsi Castle (Clermont) is one of the best-preserved examples of Frankish fortress architecture in Greece. It was built between 1220 and 1223 by Geoffrey I of Villehardouin, Prince of Achaea.

The ferry port of Kyllini in the western Peloponnese is the main hub for crossings to the Ionian Islands. From here, there are daily connections year-round, primarily operated by Levante Ferries: To Zakynthos: The crossing takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. To Kefalonia (Poros): The crossing takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. To Ithaca (Pisaetos): This route is usually served seasonally (approximately from mid-July to early September).

The Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (Greek: lerós Naós Koimíseos tís Theotókou) in the small town of Vartholomio is a very large and imposing Orthodox church with a striking dome. Immediately next to the church stands a tall, freestanding clock and bell tower. The church is located in the center of Vartholomio on a large, paved square.

The charming fishing port, known as Lonino (Little Port), is located near Kyllini (Elis region), an important ferry hub for the Ionian Islands. It is a typical small Greek port with fishing boats and small yachts.

A footbridge leads from the waterfront to this charming church, which is unfortunately closed. Next to the church is a notice board with many photos of the local fishermen.

The absolute must-see on Elafonisos is definitely Simos Beach. Simos Beach, with its almost white sand, stretches for approximately 1,300 meters and is rightly considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. The super-fine sand, with its dunes and crystal-clear water, which offers almost every shade of green and blue, is reminiscent of Caribbean beaches. This impressive beach experience can get very crowded during peak season.
