The Log Trail Loop winds through peaceful forest near Chadburn Lake, where the air is filled with the scent of spruce and the colors of wildflowers in summer. Lupines, fireweed, and paintbrush line the path, adding bright touches of purple and pink beneath the tall trees. It’s an easy, quiet loop that captures the calm beauty of the boreal landscape. It's perfect if you’re looking for a slow and relaxing walk close to town.

Surrounded by rolling forest and low hills, Chadburn Lake feels like a hidden northern retreat just minutes from Whitehorse. The lake’s clear waters mirror the sky and nearby ridges, creating a picture-perfect spot for paddling or simply watching the reflections shift with the light. If you’re lucky, you might spot loons gliding across the water.

Here you’ll find a small beach and picnic area near the Log Trailhead, inviting you to slow down and enjoy the view. There are picnic tables, benches, and plenty of space to spread a blanket by the shore after hiking or kayaking. It’s a perfect place to spend time with family or simply enjoy a moment by the lake.

Chadburn Lake Recreation Area is a protected greenbelt within the Chadburn Lake Park & Recreation Forest, managed by the City of Whitehorse. It’s not part of a named territorial forest, but is managed under the Whitehorse South trail network within municipal forested land.

Magnusson Trailhead is a dirt lot with plenty of parking in this clearing in the trees. It is on Grey Mountain Road, a well-maintained dirt road; consider driving with 4-wheel drive when the road is wet or icy.

Magnusson Red is a blue-rated mountain bike trail open to hikers and bikers that almost forms a complete loop. To complete the loop, take Magnusson Green. Mountain bikers can bike through this thick forest just outside of Whitehorse in both directions, so be aware when hiking.

Shea's Lookout is rated as a green trail and a way trail for bikers, and is open to hikers as well. This is a lowkey trail that you won't find a crowd at, and it's a great spot to get away and relax in the woods.

Marsh Lake Boat Launch has the best parking for hiking to Shea's Point; it keeps cars off the side of the highway and out of the private neighborhood to the north, on Nolan Road, and is also a nice place to access the shore of Marsh Lake before or after the hike.
