A cycle/pedestrian path just outside Torre San Giovanni, complete with a walkway and a small wooden lookout point. At the time of writing, it's still being finalized, so the exit onto the drainage canal has yet to be clearly defined. For now, you'll need to climb four low steps with your bike on your shoulder, but it's still accessible and easily navigable. It'll be wonderful to stop and admire the birdlife during migration periods. Highly recommended.

“The church of the Madonna del Casale in fact, according to legend, is one of the three churches wanted by a sailor who survived a storm through the intercession of the Madonna Maria Stella del Mare. This story is shared with two other churches that arise near Ugento, namely the church dedicated to the Madonna dell'Alto Mare (in Felline) and the one dedicated to the Madonna della Campana (in Casarano), with which the Casale hermitage shares public holiday and traditions (the Sunday after Easter)."

basins connected to each other and the sea by tidal collector channels are identified respectively with the names of Suddenna, Bianca, Ulmo, Rottacapozza Nord and Rottacapozza Sud, Spunderati Nord and Spunderati Sud, and the last one not connected with the others, Pali.

On a hill between Ugento and its Torre San Giovanni hamlet, this simple church surrounded by greenery is dedicated to Santa Maria del Casale. Very small, surrounded by trees and in a really quiet place, it gives an immediate feeling of peace.
