Beautiful valley without car traffic

Unfortunately, the Gelper Hof is permanently closed. The route is still beautiful. Unfortunately, you can no longer stop there for refreshments.

A beautiful wooded nature reserve from which you can hike very far, highly recommended on hot days because of the coolness of the forest

I reported in January 2022 that the Gelpetal coming from the Gerstau is closed after a few hundred meters by an iron gate on the asphalt path. This has largely changed positively in 2023/24. A trail has been created parallel to the closed path through the forest, which can be walked with good shoes, and you now have access to the Gelpetal again. 03/18/24

The historic chimney standing suddenly in the forest is particularly impressive.

With its striking “wheel windows” and the picturesque mill pond, the Käshammer, which is now lovingly restored and used as a private house, is one of the most beautiful examples of the former Bergisch economy.

The Gelpe is a “hardworking” water and has driven numerous hammers. Information boards with interesting explanations describe the history that can be explored. Also nice is the Azsflugs restaurant in Zillertal, which has existed since the beginning of time and will hopefully stay just as long and fortify hikers with waffles.

Everywhere in the valley are the small reservoirs of the hammers. It's very idyllic here
