The Stuckenpfad trail near Herford is a family-friendly circular hiking trail that leads through the Stuckenberg nature reserve in the east of the city. This approximately 74-hectare woodland area lies on the hills between Herford and Vlotho and is characterized by its diverse deciduous and mixed forests with ancient trees, deadwood areas, and a rich variety of wildlife. Among other species, rare bats such as the greater mouse-eared bat and Bechstein's bat live here, highlighting the ecological value of the area. The roughly eight-kilometer-long Stuckenpfad trail was developed in cooperation with schools and is particularly well-suited for families with children. Along the way, numerous information panels, small activities, and color-coded trail markers make the walk a playful nature experience. The route follows well-maintained forest paths and has only gentle inclines, making it easily accessible even for inexperienced hikers.

Beautiful circular hiking trail, if you feel like it you can also make a detour to the Bismarck Tower. The trail is suitable for walkers, hikers, joggers and people with dogs.

Colorful signs lead you along the Stuckenpfad. They are signposts for a creative and exciting hiking trail on the Stuckenberg. The path mostly runs along easy paths from the zoo to the Waldesrand Hotel. There are a few quiz questions to answer along the way. Great fun for young and old.

The Herford Bismarck Tower was and always is a popular tourist destination with a very historical background. In the middle of the 19th century, there were four kingdoms, seven principalities, six grand duchies, five duchies and three free cities on “German soil”. After the Wars of Liberation in 1815, the population increasingly wanted a national unity in Germany. Otto von Bismarck had succeeded in uniting Germany with great diplomatic skill. As a thank you, Emperor Wilhelm I gave him the inheritable title of prince and the Sachsenwald, the largest contiguous forest area in Schleswig Holstein, southeast of Hamburg, measuring 70 km2. That is the equivalent of around 9800 football pitches. The club's membership fees make it possible to hold a large midsummer festival with a varied program at the tower every year in June. You meet people here.
