Düren: At the New Year's reception in the Winkelsaal at Burgau Castle for the clubs, associations and other voluntary groups and institutions that help shape the social and cultural life of the city all year round, there was a happy and relaxed atmosphere. After the welcome by Ralph Schauerte, the district committee chairman of Niederau, Mayor Paul Larue acknowledged the commitment of those present and at the end of his speech raised a glass to the year 2014, which everyone began with confidence. The mayor cited the start of construction of the new B 56n eastern bypass and the balanced budget as two major successes in terms of urban development. "It is the citizens of the city in particular who have made a significant contribution to both successes. The citizens' initiative for the eastern bypass has been in existence for 40 years," said Paul Larue.
