The route isn't new anymore. Having to cycle on a narrow footpath has never been a highlight. But it's better than taking the sharp right-hand bend on the road. The alternative route to Bestensee via the lakeside path is more suited to mountain bikers, especially in bad weather.

The Todnitzsee is an approximately 37.2 hectare body of water inBestensee, Dahme-Spreewald district. The natural lake has an outflow to the north to the Zeesener See and in the south and west there are tributaries via the Glunze from Pätzer Vordersee and via the Fanggraben from Seechen. The body of water has a bathing area certified by the Brandenburg Ministry for the Environment, Health and Consumer Protection (MUGV) with an adjacent sunbathing area. The maximum depth is 6 m.
