The Kranika moorland is located very close to the Lütjensee. It is 96 hectares in size and has been a nature reserve since 1993. Part of the area used to be covered by water, but later moors and wet meadows developed. Today, rare plants such as sundew and orchid grow here. Many animals, including frogs, grass snakes and various bird species, also call this area home. A number of beautiful hiking trails lead along the edges and information boards provide exciting insights.

On the northern shore of Lütjensee Lake, there is this beautiful free swimming area, accessible via the "Seeredder" street. Here, you can refresh yourself in the lake, enjoy the magnificent view of the lake, or drive in two directions from here and watch the sunset in small coves or from benches by the lake. The nature reserve is located northeast of Hamburg. It places a moored valley area in a terminal moraine landscape between the Lütjensee and the federal highway 404 under protection. The forest areas bordering the valley area and agricultural areas have moved into the nature reserve.
