The Wechmar dam was built from 1978 to 1981 and was put into operation in 1983. The dam is a industrial water dam with an area of 39 hectares and you can swim in it. To the east is the Röhnberg nature reserve and the 3 Gleichen are also nearby.

A small lake where you can enjoy fishing. The view and all-round view is something to behold. Sometimes the distant shooting range can be a bit annoying. Swimming is possible. Nice beach, just a bit slippery clay bottom. Refreshing for a short break on a tour.
