The Deesbach fore-dam is idyllically located in the Lichte valley, near the towns of Deesbach and Unterweißbach in Thuringia. Since it was put into operation in 1991, it has been damming the Lichte. At times it was used as a source of drinking water for the region. Today it fulfils its role as a fore-dam for the preliminary purification of water for the Leibis-Lichte dam. The fore-dam can only be reached on foot or by bike. From here, several beautiful hiking trails lead through the Thuringian Forest.

Great hiking trail. I can only recommend. You can also ride a bike very well. The circular route has little elevation gain. Most of the time asphalt paths.
