With the construction of the Hochstadt-Marktzeuln–Probstzella railway line, Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg station lost some of its long-distance passenger traffic in the early 20th century. Today, Intercity Express trains on the Munich–Berlin route run exclusively on the Nuremberg–Erfurt high-speed line. Long-distance trains on the Saxony-Franconian Main Line have bypassed the station since 2000, using the Schlömen Curve. Since 2014, Deutsche Bahn Regional Express trains, which are separated from Lichtenfels in Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg, have operated here, as have Agilis diesel multiple units for regional services. Special steam locomotive trips over the inclined plane occasionally take place.

Bridge No. V is the lowest of the so-called "Rough Walls." This is the name given to the stone dams because of their appearance. It primarily serves as a passage for the "Schwarze Lacke" stream. The smallest bridge of the "Schiefen Ebene" has been accessible again since 2013.

The engineers performed exemplary pioneering work in railway construction on the largest structure of the "Schiefen Ebene" (Slope Plane). The dam crest is 32 meters above the "Schützengraben" side valley. From here, the inward-curving profile of the dam is clearly visible.

From the viewing platform, you can get a good view of the "Schiefen Ebene" line and take some great photos. This spot is especially popular during the "Whitsun Steam Days."

This barrier was intended to potentially slow advancing Warsaw Pact tanks during the Cold War. The striking barrier was built in 1983. Trapezoidal concrete sections were piled up, reinforced with structural steel, and then filled with concrete. In an emergency, massive bodies would have been blasted onto the tracks.

St. John's Church in Wirsberg has been built three times. The oldest parts of the church date back to the 12th century. The second building was completed in 1646, and the third, its current form, in 1746. Worth seeing: The pulpit altar is a white marbled wooden structure. A special feature is the oil painting "The Ten Commandments" hanging in the church.
