cool tributary to Lake Haldensee

A wonderful place along the hike

The Bad Kissinger Hut cannot be seen from the circular path around the Haldensee and the inflow to it, as the view is obscured by elevations in front of it. You have to climb a few meters on the southern ascents to the various popular peaks in order to be able to look over these elevations and then see the Bad Kissinger Hut right next to the Aggenstein, a breathtaking view. The inflow to the Haldensee is fed by the Strindenbach, which draws its water from the slopes of the Strindenschartenkopf (1937 m) and, with smaller lateral inflows, the slopes of Litnisschrofen (2068 m), Lochgehrenspitze (1995 m) and Sulzspitze (2084 m).

Around the Haldensee. Flat route. Shady and cool! An extension to Tannheim and Grän is possible. Always in view and illuminated by the sun are the Kissinger Hut and the Gimpel with its 2173 meters.

The creation of Lake Halden, version I. Where Lake Halden now lies, there was a farm hundreds of years ago. It was the largest and most beautiful in the entire valley. The farmer was the richest man for miles around and he could fill many a chest to the brim with gold and silver. This wealth made him proud and stingy. His fingers preferred counting money to the beads of the rosary and he preferred the sound of his gold to organ playing and choir singing during church services. This farmer had three daughters. All three were very beautiful. But wealth had blinded them too and made them courtly. Dressed in velvet and silk, they went to church on Sundays, but only to be admired and envied. Even when the youngest went blind, she didn't change. Then the father died. His daughters held a splendid funeral and walked behind the coffin in splendid mourning clothes. But there was no real sadness in their hearts. Soon after, they began to divide up the inheritance. The older ones looked at the treasures with greed, and the blind woman rummaged around in them with no less greed. Counting would have been a futile task, so they filled a bushel to the top, while they turned the blind sister's bushel over and only filled the space between the bottom and the edge. When the blind woman noticed the deception, she knocked the bushel off the table, raised her fist to the sky, and cursed the wealth and her two sisters. Then a terrible storm came, roaring streams rushed down from the mountain and buried everything under their floods, and that is how the Haldensee was created.
