Many locals say Lake Ferchensee is beautiful enough to make you fall to your knees. This natural spectacle at 1,060 meters above sea level near Mittenwald is multifaceted. Sometimes the surrounding forests turn its surface dark green. Sometimes the mighty Wetterstein Wall and the walls of Lake Ferchensee are reflected in it, depending on which side you view the Alpine lake from. The white sand on its northern shore appears almost exotic. The last Ice Age formed Lake Ferchensee, just like the nine other lakes around Mittenwald, Krün, and Wallgau. Lake Ferchensee is a picture-perfect Alpine lake.
