The pipe bridge over the Werra River, built in the 1920s, is a listed historical monument. It is a relic of the former soda production. An information panel provides details about the history of the Buchenau soda works.

Here, the promenade is a lovely place to stroll, and on weekdays, there's also a wide selection of good snacks. At the end, the highlight, St. Mary's Church, awaits.

The castle is very impressive and definitely worth a detour. The climb up there is steep, but doable.

It's very impressive to cycle right next to the cliffs. The cycle path is in good condition, but quite narrow.
