A bird paradise and natural spectacle

This small bathing cove with seating is right next to the reserve's parking lot. It's about a 20-meter walk away.

The Orange Trail is by far the most beautiful and varied, with lovely sections along the shores of Lake Möckeln. The Yellow Trail, with one exception, follows exclusively paved paths and offers little beyond forests. The Blue Trail is the shortest route, but with the most elevation gain and definitely the most natural. The parking lot has space for approximately 8 vehicles. Rest benches are located nearby on the lakeshore.

The reserve's parking lot has space for approximately eight vehicles. In addition to the information board with a hiking map, there is a bench for rest and a restroom.

This explains quite simply why forests like those in such reserves often appear "unkempt." The simple reason for this is that nature is often allowed to expand without major human intervention. Often, only the bare minimum is done to keep hiking trails and cultural sites accessible.

Precious woods include species from the following genera: maple, elm, ash, Prunus (wild cherry), whitebeam, Malus (crab apple), and pear. Linden and walnut are also often included.

Beautiful place with a good view of both the Möckeln and the Steindamm, which you can climb to the north.

An absolute highlight that's easy to miss. There's only a very narrow path leading up to this stone dam, which is difficult to spot due to the lush vegetation. However, you should definitely make your way through the undergrowth to reach this "magical" spot.
