Tokarnia, a peak at 778 meters above sea level, offers stunning and expansive views of the Bukowskie Foothills and the Bieszczady Mountains. Finally, a forest-free peak. It's beautiful and peaceful here—it's hard to believe that heavy fighting took place here during World War II. It's an open clearing, so the wind can blow tourists away quite hard.

An interesting Greek Catholic cemetery right by the road is worth a look. It turns out that the Main Beskid Trail offers more than just mountains!

According to the plan, on April 19, 2024, the pedestrian and vehicle footbridge over the Wisłok River was officially opened for use. The total cost of building this facility is PLN 4,606,648.64. The new crossing connects two parts of Besko divided by the Wisłok River and will serve the residents of the commune moving on foot, on two-wheelers or by passenger cars to school, library, church, cultural center, nursery, sports facilities, commune and post offices, police station, shops or their own homes. The church is located on a hillside on the right side of the DW892 road, driving towards Komańcza. There is a small parking lot for about 8 cars by the road, and more parking spaces are located above the church. Getting to the upper parking lot by car in winter can be problematic due to the significant slope of the asphalt road leading to the church and parking lot. There are many wooden elements inside the church - ceiling paneling, surrounding paintings resembling fish scales, a chandelier made of roots and another with numerous antlers. If I were to find myself inside without knowing what the name of this church is, I would suspect that it is either Saint Hubert - the patron saint of hunters, or Saint Joseph - carpenter, patron saint of craftsmen. The square is nicely lit at night, as if from below. Small architecture, benches, monument. In the summer season, next to the square there is an open ice cream stand from the Jagusia confectionery from Krosno. Scoop PLN 6.50, approx. 10 flavors. I recommend mascarpone with raspberry and coffee with walnut. 😀 Behind the square, on the same side of the road, there is an Orthodox church on a hill. Closer to the Wisłok River, on the other side of the main street (DK28), there is a sports and bicycle shop. Hiking tourists who do not have cars can reach Besko by Kubuś buses serving the Krosno - Zarszyn - Sanok route. WW

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Szczawne is an Orthodox parish church built in 1889. Originally Greek Catholic, the church was handed over to the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church in 1962. It is located on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. Next to the church there is a wooden bell tower from 1889, and in the cemetery there are wooden crosses, one of which commemorates the 1000th anniversary of the baptism of Rus.
