Two nameless rivers or streams flowing from high above at 1000 m above the village of Saureè converge at an altitude of 580 m above the Via Centovalli road, flowing first under an old stone bridge and then right next to/under the road bridge, before plunging about 80 m into a mighty waterfall at the Melezza River reservoir at an altitude of 500 m near the village of Palagnedra. From the road, you can walk on metal walkways under the road and the old stone bridge and view the waterfall from above, as well as the interesting wetland area above with its smaller waterfalls. Exciting! Unfortunately, you won't see any of this on the Centovalli train ride!

Just before Camedo, the last town in the Centovalli before the Italian border, there are (as well as other stretches of road) quite interesting views of the valley and the railway line, in this case a steel viaduct spanning the valley. Unfortunately, you see much less on the train ride!

Great route, winding, some cars cut across the road, so you have to think outside the box :) Beautiful.

A beautiful, dark reservoir

Artificial lake formed by Dam, in the context of Centovalli, a very famous road among cyclists. The road is narrow, be careful especially when going downhill.

Lake Palagnedra originates from the construction of a dam on the Melezza river. The dam is 72 meters high and was completed in 1952.

Watch out for roadblocks
