The core of the castle goes back to a medieval defense tower and was expanded into a manor house in the 16th century under the barons of Königsberg. The east wing with the arcades and the portico was added in the 18th century under the Batthyány counts, who owned the castle from 1644 to 1918. After that, the castle housed a farming school and a hotel. After extensive renovation work, a health academy was housed here in 2003. The castle used to have a spacious park with a pond and an attached nursery. The castle is currently used by the Burgenland Dental Association and the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences.
