The current building is a Gothic Revival replica from 1894, constructed on the site of the original two-story brick structure from the 14th century. It served as a prison until the 19th century and was severely damaged after a lightning strike in May 2024, which completely destroyed one tower and severely damaged the other.

The town hall stands very finely decorated in bright colors on the market square.

The Stone Gate in Malchin is one of the four gates of the fortifications that once surrounded the town of Malchin. The current structure is a replica of the original two-story brick building with a fieldstone base and pent roof from the 14th century.

Malchin's town hall originally dates back to the 14th century, was rebuilt in 1745, enlarged in 1842, and largely rebuilt in 1900 and 1927.

The forerunners of the state postal service were the Dukes of Mecklenburg's early 16th-century messenger services, operated by professional couriers who delivered letters and other items on foot or horseback, and later by carriage, along fixed routes with stops and at specific times. By the end of the 16th century, they were called postmen. In 1663, there was a privatized (tenant-operated) traveling postal service from Güstrow to Neubrandenburg. A state postal service was established in 1701.

The old Gorschendorf church was built in 1593 using half-timbering. By 1704, the church was in a very sad state. Extensive repairs were carried out in 1778. The new church in Gorschendorf was consecrated on July 14, 1901, in the presence of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV. Inside the church, one can notice many small coats of arms of the Moltke, Klitzing, Blücher, and Wickede families. These shields once served as ornaments for coffins.
