The Ymerbrunnen fountain – a bronze copy of Kai Nielsen's original – is particularly eye-catching and lends the square an artistic touch. From Torvet, you have a wonderful view of the famous bell tower, Faaborg's landmark, which dominates the town's medieval skyline. The square is also the starting point for several popular hikes, such as to the Faaborg Museum or up to Lerbjerg, the highest point in the region. Whether as a meeting place, photo opportunity, or starting point for exploration – Torvet is a place where history, culture, and everyday life merge in a charming way.

A beautiful gable painting by Els Cools, Oliver Streich, and Bruno MacDonald on the gable of the "Director's" building on the old slaughterhouse site. The painting depicts a man watering the city's landmark, the bell tower. There are eight bell towers in total, all of different sizes and all planted in a flowerpot. Four of the small bell towers are sculptures made of cement, which were then painted in the colors of the bell tower. The Church of Our Lady is located at Frue Kirkestræde 8, in 5700 Svendborg. It was probably built in the first half of the 12th century with a nave and chancel. In the second half of the 14th century, the church was converted into a nave with the construction of a new chancel. The transepts, of which the northern one is the oldest, were probably built around 1400. The tower and porch were built in the late Middle Ages. The sacristy, dating from 1884, replaced a medieval sacristy on the same site. The church received its present appearance through an extensive restoration in 1884. The altarpiece dates from around 1604, with paintings by C.W. Eckersberg from 1824-1825. The pulpit has the dates 1597 and 1599 carved into the basket. The figures of the basket and other details were carved in 1884 by the woodcarver Erik Nielsen from Hesselager. The Brecht House in Svendborg was the home of the writer Bertolt Brecht, who lived here from 1933 to 1939 as a refugee from the German Nazi regime. Some of his most important plays, "Mother Courage and Her Children" and "Life of Galileo", were written in Danish exile. St. Nicholas Church is Svendborg's main church and is dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors. It was built of brick in the early 13th century and its design is inspired by North German architecture. The current church is a three-aisled Romanesque bacilica. The oldest part of the church is the basilica itself, with central and side aisles made of medieval red brick. The large square tower was built in the west at the end of the 15th century.
