It is the only church in Northern Germany covered with frescoes from floor to dome. Construction was entirely financed by donations from parishioners. The church is active, and services are held regularly in Church Slavonic and German. There are also two choirs: one German and one Russian, or more precisely, Church Slavonic. Anyone interested in church architecture will find here an unusual building style for this region—a Russian Orthodox church based on ancient building traditions. Small, yet impressive.

Not suitable for swimming, as it's a nature reserve. But there's a beautiful and important bridge over the Kollau River! Drive carefully, it's busy here.

Hagenbeck's Zoo is a wonderful place to visit. You can spend a whole day strolling here, marveling at the stunning nature and wildlife. There are many dining options. There's a lovely children's playground and great seating areas.

The Niendorf Markt station was built under the Tibarg, a street in the center of Niendorf that was converted into a pedestrian zone during the construction of the subway. The station has a central platform with three entrances. The entrances are located in this pedestrian zone at both ends of the station. There is also an elevator in the southern third of the station, making the station barrier-free. There was a tram in Hamburg until October 1, 1978. The extensive network was gradually phased out starting in 1955. On October 1, 1978, Line 2 was the last line to be replaced. It was initially replaced by Bus 102. In the long term, however, the construction of a subway from Stephansplatz via Hoheluft and Lokstedt to Niendorf was planned. The Niendorf public was outraged by this transport policy and immediately demanded that it be replaced by a subway. The city stuck to its bus conversion, but promised Niendorf residents a subway as soon as possible. Of course, it was to be built as cost-effectively as possible. But that wasn't possible with the original route to Stephansplatz. And so a connection to Hagenbeck came into play. Construction began in the summer of July 7, 1979. In the middle of the Niendorf enclosure there is a large fallow deer park. Around 30 deer and stags live here. The animals can be observed particularly well from the observation platform. Sometimes they even come very close. The enclosure has been generously expanded so that the animals have more peace and quiet during the rutting season and during breeding. Very important: Please do not feed them! This harms the wild animals.
