Eggeloge is a district of Westerstede, the county seat of the Ammerland district in Lower Saxony. The village lies approximately six kilometers north of the town center, bordering the Frisian municipality of Zetel. In addition to Eggeloge itself, the Eggeloge administrative district of Westerstede includes the villages of Eggelogerfeld, Grafenfeld, and Jührdenerfeld.

Westerstede-Felde Airfield is a German airfield located in Westerstede. It is classified as a special landing site and approved for aircraft up to 2 tons, helicopters up to 3 tons, self-launching motor gliders, and ultralight aircraft. The airfield is used by air sports enthusiasts (ultralight aircraft, gyrocopters) as well as private and business pilots. The Westerstede Flying Club and the Westerstede Parachute Sports Club are located on site.

The Stapeler Moor, with its nearly 2-kilometer-long peatland discovery trail, is definitely worth a visit. When we were there, we were alone, and the trail was easily navigable by bicycle. Until 1964, the peat extracted here was used to heat the power plant in Wiesmoor. With the end of the power plant era, peat extraction in Uplengen continued and was primarily used in horticulture. Extraction finally ceased in 1998. The Stapeler Moor is now a strictly protected nature reserve and is undergoing extensive renaturalization. The extracted peat areas have been rewetted, and rushes and sphagnum mosses are once again thriving in the former cuttings. It will take centuries for a fully intact moor to re-emerge. Along the peatland discovery trail, information panels provide comprehensive information about the moor and its flora and fauna. It was a shame that the observation tower was closed; it's probably showing its age and is in a state of disrepair. ... Update March 2026: The dilapidated viewing platform has been demolished and a new observation tower has been built. I think it will be opened soon.

Königssee Astederfeld Swimming is unsupervised in the well-maintained outdoor pool at the "Haus am See" restaurant on Tarbarger Landstrasse in Astederfeld near Neuenburg. For this reason, entry is free. The large lake with a white sandy beach and a large lawn, surrounded by lots of greenery, invites you to swim, bathe and relax in summer. Children have enough space to frolic in the spacious area of the shallow water at the front. A toilet block is available for day visitors. At this large, former quarry lake there is a recreational area with over 60 comfortable pitches for caravans. All pitches are equipped with sewer, electricity and water connections. Guests also benefit from a comfortably equipped, heated sanitary building with toilets, showers, washing machine and a baby changing room.
