Here in the Middelpolder you can walk through the unique Dutch polder landscape. It became increasingly difficult for the region around the Amstel river to drain the water naturally. That is why a number of new polders were constructed around 1630, including the Middelpolder. It owes its name to the fact that it is located in the middle of the other polders.

Designed by the occasional duo Rik van Dolderen and Marc Hendriks and placed in 1986. The idea is that the openwork "tower" and the transparent "house" offer an unexpected view of the Gaasperplas because they make a cut-out of it and put it in a frame. “A meeting place where people can watch and stay”.
