Check the opening hours, but if you manage to do that, you'll be rewarded with a spritzer. A highly recommended option, especially on hot days.

2월 4, 2025, Buchhorst Village
The municipality of Buchhorst is beautifully situated against the high forest of the Buchhorst Mountains and the "Langen Berg" and is one of the southernmost villages in Schleswig-Holstein in the border triangle of Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Lower Saxony. Buchhorst is a typical street village, the center of which stretches along county road 41. According to current knowledge, the village of Buchhorst was founded around the year 1200. Buchhorst gained importance at that time through the operation of a post mill. The importance of this mill became apparent when the Stecknitz-Delvenau Canal, a huge construction project at the time with immense importance for the transport of salt between Lüneburg and Lübeck, had to be built around this mill. The symbols of the municipal coat of arms therefore also show a salt barge, a mill wheel and a beech leaf. https://www.amt-luetau.de/gemeinden/buchhorst/

1월 21, 2025, Lütau Village
The entry in the tithe register of 1230 by Bishop Gottschalk of Ratzeburg (1229 - 1235) shows that the parish and the German village of Lütau already existed around 1230. However, there are indications that Lütau is much older. The original name (Lutowe) indicates that it was founded by a Slavic farmer who gave the settlement his name (or nickname). Lutowe or L'utov can be loosely translated as "place of L'ut" or "village of the wild man". But, to avoid misunderstandings, the name was given a long time ago. The community, which has around 700 inhabitants and covers 1100 hectares, is located in the southeast of Schleswig-Holstein on the federal highway 209 between Schwarzenbek and Lauenburg. Lütau is still very rural in structure, which will hopefully remain so for a long time. There are still 8 full-time agricultural businesses in Lütau. But crafts and trades are also represented here. The social and cultural life in the town is largely supported by the shooting and sports club and the volunteer fire brigade. There is also a skat club and several bowling clubs. The highlight of social life in Lütau is the folk and shooting festival, which is celebrated every year in September. Lütau is a very beautiful place, and its charming area with its farm and hiking trails invites you to take long walks. https://www.luetau.de/

1월 21, 2025, Lütau Cemetery and Church
The Lütau parish cemetery is located in the middle of the village, surrounded by 57 linden trees and a fieldstone cemetery wall that was renovated in 2008. The many large hereditary graves that have shaped the image of the cemetery for centuries are distinctive. Of the approximately 1250 grave spaces available, 825 are occupied. There are choice graves, lawn row graves and an area for anonymous burials. Special features of the Lütau cemetery are: - The church in the middle of the cemetery with a tower from the (13th century) - Benches on the cemetery grounds that invite you to linger and have conversations. - Manageability, individuality and the well-kept exterior. https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/7238559

7월 8, 2024, St.-Dionysius-und-St.-Jakobus-Kirche Lütau
Lütau is one of the oldest parishes in the Sadelbande, the southern part of the Duchy of Lauenburg district. The church tower of the St. Dionys and St. James Church in Lütau dates from the 12th century, while the nave of the church was built in the classicist style in the 19th century after the previous church was demolished. Of the previous church, which was demolished in 1845 due to dilapidation, only the church tower remains, which dates back to the 12th century. The loophole-like windows in the tower staircase on the south side indicate that the tower may also have served as a defensive tower. The current appearance of the church tower is characterized by alterations from the early 18th century, when an upper floor made of brick framework was added to the fieldstone tower between 1701 and 1705. When the church was rebuilt in the 19th century, the tower was connected to the nave by an intermediate structure. In addition, a massive brick retaining wall was added to the south side. The nave of the church was built in 1845/46 in the late classicist style according to plans by the state architect Georg Wilhelm Timmermann. The interior of the nave is also uniformly classicist. The central space is vaulted with a wooden barrel vault, which is supported by a two-story row of supports with a gallery in between. On the east side above the altar there is a semicircular stained glass window showing the risen Christ between two angels and a reclining guard. The furnishings also date from the time the church was built. The wooden altarpiece is decorated with a copy of Leonardo da Vinci's "Last Supper", which was donated in 1847 by Madame Bösch and Inspector Baumann from Dalldorf and made by the painter Dreß from Ratzeburg. Above the picture rises the crucifix by the Hamburg sculptor Ernst Gottfried Vivié. The church was extensively renovated in 2005, with the church interior being returned to its original classicist style. https://www.kirche-ll.de/gemeinden/lauenburg/luetau/geschichte.html

7월 8, 2023, Lütauer Süßmosterei
The Lütauer Mosterei has been juicing fruit from the surrounding area since 1955. Since 1984, Bernd Velke and his partner Axel Otolski have been marketing their gently pressed direct juices under the name Lütauer. Apple juice makes up the largest part of the processed fruit volume of around 1000 tons per year and organic juices make up around 10% of that. The regional employer employs a team of 12 people and has established itself in the highly competitive market of beverage manufacturers with high-quality juices at attractive prices. www.bio-hoflieferant.de/produzenten/luetauer-mosterei-voelkel?show_all=true

7월 8, 2023, Zugpferde Museum
The Draft Horse Museum has existed since 2000 on the historic Annenhof in Lütau. It deals with the cultural history of the working horse. The farm complex, built in 1726, includes a main house with a drive-through barn, stables and a guest and seminar house, as well as a rose and meditation garden accessible to visitors and other open spaces. The Draft Horse Museum provides insights into the period of industrialization characterized by horse power. It illustrates the essential role of draft animals (horses, donkeys, oxen, goats, dogs - but also camels and elephants) in human, cultural and economic development towards modernity. The focus is on the use of horses in urban areas. The permanent exhibition presents, among other things, the connections between horse power and the construction of cultural monuments such as the Eiffel Tower and the Titanic. The focus is not only on visual, but above all on haptic knowledge transfer. The collections include large inventory from professional stables (harnesses for teams of four, six and ten), veterinary instruments, as well as mail, beer and military wagons with their complete equipment. Horse-drawn sleighs for transporting people and cargo sleighs as a means of transport in winter, including the special sleigh bells, represent special vehicles for horse-drawn transport. Library collections and reports from contemporary witnesses complement the exhibition. Documentation concerning basic information about horses - breeding, distribution, keeping, veterinary medicine - is related to the use of draft horses. The museum also houses three cold-blooded horses of the Rhenish-German and Schleswig cold-blood breeds. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zugpferdemuseum

A smooth, two-lane paved path leads past the old pheasant house. Whenever I pass by here, I always take some time to look at the pheasant house and the hunting pavilion. From the pavilion, you have a beautiful, expansive view of the surrounding fields. It's a good place for a short rest. The pheasant house, built in 1928, has unfortunately become increasingly dilapidated in recent years and is now nothing more than a ruin. You can still clearly sense how romantic and idyllic it must have been here once. Today, it's still somehow a mystical and fascinating place. The outbuilding is a little further from the pheasant house toward Gülzow. It has also been abandoned for some time and is also nothing more than a ruin. It deteriorates more and more every year. I find it exciting to see what will become of these buildings, and especially the properties in this beautiful location. The pavilion a little further on was very well restored some time ago and has become a real gem. The last two photos show the Pheasant House and the pavilion in 1997. Back then, the house was in even better condition, and the pavilion hadn't yet been restored.

In July 2022 there is a construction site here. The diversion via the beaten track is not immediately recognizable, but then it works perfectly. I liked this tour: Mölln, Büchen, Lauenburg, Geesthacht, Drage, Winsen 2022_07_14 bv https://www.komoot.de/tour/843395709
