Directly adjacent to Lünen Lake Park is the Preußenhafen (Preussen Harbor) on the Datteln-Hamm Canal. It was once a coal transshipment point. Today, it serves as a rest area for recreational boating. The harbor is also a popular destination for walkers and cyclists. The canal promenade invites you to take a stroll with stunning views of the water. The harbor house offers an information service, restrooms with washing facilities, and a snack bar. Come and visit! On the right shore of the lake, as seen from the beach, stands the approximately ten-meter-high "Bastion," a work of art by Erich Reusch. The white and red rods that comprise the work are reminiscent of oversized Mikado sticks.

So, as requested (see above): what makes this HL stand out? First of all, it's just a regular bridge over the canal for pedestrians and cyclists, always well-frequented. It connects several real highlights – Schwansbell Castle and Castle Park, and the lakeside park with its beach and café. You can also simply cycle down to the canal and then continue from there. Yes, in the Alstedder forest there are some beech trees with very picturesque growth.

The Datteln-Hamm canal runs south of the Lippe. I find it boring for hiking in places. I can recommend the canal for cycling.

The Lippe floodplain is a very beautiful landscape.
