St. Peter's Church in Eggebek is a historical monument worth seeing. An early church in Eggebek, perhaps built from wood as early as the 11th century, is now only a memory, with no physical traces. St. Peter's Church, built around 1200, stands today as a landmark of history, art, and urban development. It shapes Eggebek's cultural landscape and has been listed as a cultural monument. Its furnishings and the walled churchyard bear witness to times past. The church is part of the Eggebek-Jörl parish, which has joined forces with surrounding parishes to form the Star Region to preserve its cultural and spiritual significance. St. Peter's Church in Eggebek, a symphony of bricks in the Romanesque style, stands out for its unique choir and apse. Over time, a nave was added west of the chancel, and porches adorn the north and south portals. The Karnhaus, the northern porch, bears an inscription dating from 1745, a sign of earlier renovations. Initially, a separate oak belfry served as a bell tower, until the present bell tower was built in 1898. It now houses historic bells, including one cast by the Husum bell founder Asmussen in 1684. St. Peter's Church is a remarkable Romanesque fieldstone church in the Stenderup district of the municipality of Sieverstedt. It was built in the 12th century in Stenthorp on a hill at the intersection of the Oxen Trail and a main west-east road. During the major renovation in 1961, overpaintings were removed, and the original paintings were preserved using modern methods. Remains of even older paintings were discovered underneath, which are no longer easily interpretable. The old high altar was replaced by a new altar with a natural stone slab and brass cross, which stands slightly higher. The medieval fireplace south of the altar was also rediscovered. The pulpit was relocated, the north gallery shortened, and the west gallery was symmetrically rebuilt following the model of the Havetoft church. The baptismal font, which previously stood in the vestibule, was brought into the church. The church's last renovation took place in 1992, during which the church's climate control was improved and the paintings were reconserved. The oldest piece is the simple baptismal font, which may even be older than the church itself. It stood in the vestibule until 1961 and is now located in the choir with its original base, which had been stored in the pastor's garden for a time. The crucifix above the chancel arch dates from around 1430 to 1450.
