Beautiful estate situated on a hill.

Nice spot on the outskirts of Grebin. A meadow leads to the bathing area at the lake. There you will find two benches and currently a large sandy harbor where children could also dig. Otherwise there is a meadow... Currently (08/2023) there is also a toilet house at the beginning of the meadow 👍

With a small farm shop in the gateway with fresh eggs from our own mobile chicken coop and potatoes.

Very nice area below Lake Dannau.

Totally great and if you are quiet you might also see deer and squirrels. We were lucky 😊🦌🐿

Coming from the wood of winter wood, we have approached the estate over the lowland (Brook) that apparently is no longer cultivated. The house seems to be newly renovated. Interesting property. I have not found out any more details.

From Wikipedia: Kleinbahn-AG Kirchbarkau-Preetz-Lütjenburg (KPL) was founded on July 21, 1908, with the Plön district taking over more than 75% of the shares. The cities of Preetz and Lütjenburg were also involved. In Preetz there was a connection to the Kiel – Ascheberg railway line opened in 1866; however, the small train station was about 600 m away from the state train station. In Kirchbarkau there was a connection to the Kleinbahn Kiel – Segeberg, which opened in 1911. The small train was intended to economically develop the landscape of eastern Holstein, which is characterized by large agricultural goods. It served the goods Rethwisch, Rastorf, Wildenhorst, Wittenberg, Lammershagen, Friedeburg, Rantzau, Neuhaus, Klamp and Helmstorf, but also brickworks and a gravel pit. The small railway line was abandoned in the 1930s because trucks were more flexible for transporting goods and the route saved many villages. The use of the route for passenger transport was no longer worthwhile, so that the transport services were taken over by competing bus lines, which, among other things, could establish the direct connection to Kiel. Initially four pairs of trains ran daily, later the number of pairs of trains was reduced. In 1936 three pairs of trains ran daily (including Sundays) between Preetz and Lütjenburg.

Very nice nature reserve with a lot of history. In the past, the lake level was significantly higher than it is today. The forest crest in the south of the lake is said to have been surrounded on all sides like an island by the lake, reed zone and swamp meadow. On the basis of finds from Stone Age tool remains, it is assumed that settlement or refuge sites once existed here. The reserve is a 40 hectare nature reserve. The shallow, eutrophic lake has extensive silting areas and is surrounded by reed beds, wooded knolls and extensively used grassland. The nature reserve is part of the European ecological network Natura 2000. The special features of the nature reserve include extensive woodruff beech forests and moist tall herbaceous corridors. The open water is covered by fields of lake and pond rose in summer. There are spawning herbs below. The special animal species in the nature reserve include fire-bellied toad, tree frog, moor frog, crested newt and marsh harrier. There are also golden gray ducks and great crested grebes. The swamp warbler and sprout are at home in the extensive reed beds. Kingfisher and whinchat can also be seen here. Occasionally the sea eagle also hunts over the water.
