The Storkow region is home to rare salt marshes, among the largest of their kind in Europe. You can discover this unique natural phenomenon on the Salt Trail. From the eight-meter-high observation tower in the Marschallwiesen, you'll have a sweeping view of the landscape – ideal for observing cranes and many other bird species in their natural habitat.

Groß Schauener See is part of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park. It is part of a picturesque chain of lakes formed by ice-age glaciers. Today, the lake is an important nature reserve managed by the Heinz Sielmann Foundation. Here you'll find the Köllnitz Fishery (with a restaurant and farm shop) and the Sielmann Foundation (with an exhibition hall). You can get very close to the lake and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere.

Be sure to stop. There is delicious smoked fish here. The restaurants are also great. "Unfortunately" always full.

You rarely see the water from below, which is why the tower is appropriate.

When it comes to enjoying a good fish dish or just tasty fish sandwiches, a visit to one of these two fish restaurants in the Schauener Hauptstraße, a little outside of town, is always worthwhile. You will find a good atmosphere in both restaurants, but when the weather is nice you can also enjoy a beer or a shandy outside in the two beer gardens!

At Schlapower Weg there is a steel tower with a great all-round view.

Approx. 1km outside of Groß-Schauen there have been two fish restaurants directly visavis for many years, both of which also operate a farm shop. Both are very popular; even in February's "sour cucumber season" we were well advised to have reserved seats. Top!!
