The "seven-armed man", as he is often just called, was an important landmark on the Hamburg-Leipzig post route. The towns of Wolmirstedt, Ramstedt, Sandbeiendorf, Angern, Blätz, Letzlingen and Rogätz are indicated on the seven direction signs.

The Jakobus pilgrimage route leads here along the old Hamburg-Leipzig postal route. "The seven-armed signpost" was about 1.9 kilometers from the Angern - Colbitz road. The "seven-armed man", as he is often just called, was an important landmark.
