The path was pretty overgrown on July 24 and the pond smelled badly of sulphur. I would avoid it. The area around it is very beautiful.

During the ice age, sandy sediments were deposited throughout the Halen area. The resulting drift sand fields and inland dunes began to be mined in the 1960s in order to obtain building sand. The deposits are almost all exhausted today. Some ponds and lakes have emerged, such as Niedringhaussee/Sundermannsee.
