The windmill itself is worth seeing, and the rest area is well suited for a picnic.

Windmills have existed in Wanzer since at least 1611. This particular windmill was built in 1805, though originally in Pollitz, 3 km away. It was moved to Wanzer in 1868 and is now maintained by many volunteers. We were lucky enough to witness an interior inspection.

Caution: Currently (as of 10/2023) there is a hornet's nest at the top of the tower that still showed "air traffic" at the beginning of October. So it's better to leave sweets in your bag. The tower is not locked, the nest is marked with red and white ribbon.

TOP! I chose this route so that I didn't have to rely on a ferry that stopped running after 5 p.m. A small detour, but a safe and reliable crossing. Really, instead of blocking etc. tear it down, a great solution on the bridge for cyclists. The view of the Elbe is also fantastic! Great tour, great route!

Very beautiful landscape and a great tower from which you can watch the birds 👀. Don't forget binoculars 🤗👍🏻🤗👍🏻
