Beneath St. Peter's Cathedral lie the remains of the churches that preceded it, the oldest of which dates from the late 4th century: but there are also pre-Christian traces of the settlement on this hill: wells, wheat processing area, a building probably used for cult purposes, Allobroges' tomb. Several rooms have been specially set up and present one of the most important archaeological sites north of the Alps using modern museographic techniques.
