The saltworks are still in operation and make a lovely stop on any bike ride through the town. Across the street is the "Esel" (Eagle's Nest), a venue for special musical events. (Kultur im Esel e.V.)

The saltworks in Sülbeck is a great destination for a day trip. You will find lots of interesting information on the information boards and the buildings are great photo subjects. There are a few benches where you can take a rest.

The Sülbeck saltworks provides interesting insights into salt production. The Sülbeck saltworks has existed since 1686 and is located 6 km from Einbeck. Sülbeck is located in the middle of the Leinepolder. In 1780 there was a fire in Sülbeck, but the saltworks were not damaged. The drilling towers of the saltworks date from 1865 and 1882 and the brine reservoir has existed since 1882. Both the drilling towers and the brine reservoir have been technical monuments since 1984. At the end of the 19th century, drilling took place at a depth of 400 meters in order to significantly increase the profitability of the saltworks. Until 1909 there was a port from which the salt was shipped to the Leine via the so-called salt ditch. Salt was produced until the mid-1950s.
