One of the most important medieval complexes in Cantabria. It preserves doors, remains of walls, beautiful houses and palaces. The church of Santa María de la Asunción is especially beautiful. It is worth taking a walk through its streets and having a drink in some of its bars.

Old fortification that defended the town of Santoña from the entry of enemy ships. It is the oldest in Santoña and was built with earth and wood at the beginning of the 17th century. With its 37 guns it was essential for the defense of the port. In 1992 it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest.

The Castle dates from the year 1163 and is located next to the Church of the Assumption. It was first used as a lighthouse in 1853. You can visit it inside (morning: 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and afternoon: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.). Outside it is full of seagulls and from there you can see impressive views, you can even see the Basque Country from afar. A must if you visit this small city in Cantabria!

The most peculiar thing about this lighthouse is its location, since it is located inside the castle of Santa Ana. Outside there are a lot of seagulls and you can see impressive views, even the Basque Country from afar. Highly recommended.

A pity that only the ruins of the castle remain, but what remains intact are the beautiful views from the top of Montehano hill where the ruins are located.
