The Luisenbrücke bridge over the Neue Achen river at the outflow of Lake Simssee was rebuilt in spring 2025 for €224,000. Fifteen ten-meter-long oak piles were driven into the swampy ground for this environmentally friendly and sustainable wooden structure in the nature reserve. Fishing boats can pass unhindered under the bridge. The first Luisenbrücke bridge on this site was built in 1969 and renovated in 2001.

The bridge has been renewed and the path is open again.

There is no bridge at the moment, it won't be there again until April! The hike ends too early, the hike only takes half an hour!

Partly challenging and not always easy to ride S0 trail through the Eggstätt-Hemhofen lake district in the shady forest. Again and again, beautiful and attractive views of one of the lakes open up through gaps in the trees, where there are usually benches for a break. The surface on this trail is very different, soft forest floor, which can become very muddy after rain (like today) and then again passages with rough stones and fine gravel. Very varied section of the trail.

Even if you walk or drive through it often, you can always find something new.

Nice route through the lake district, currently (March 24) a bit unpleasant to look at because of the wind throws and the processing. Certainly a wonderful recreational area in the summer, and probably well visited
