This is definitely a mountain bike highlight. The trail along the railway embankment offers narrow, root-strewn paths that require riding skills or at least attention at any time of year. As an alternative to this trail, you can also use other forest paths coming from the Fuchsweg towards Ebensberg, which make the ride easier.

I was just there. I think the track is great. It is well maintained and I think the location in the forest is great. All sections of the track that I saw were in perfect condition.

With the MTB it is much more fun to ride the narrow trail that is next to the main path! You won't reach top speed there, because the trail is very narrow and offers a lot of zigzags! So look at the small entrances!

Landwehr near Lüneburg is a forest area with partly narrow paths on which you can hike but also ride MTB.

UPDATE: The bomb crater has been official since 2021: I don't live in Lüneburg anymore, but it's worth stopping by here as a mountain biker or similar. There are nice pump waves and jumps that look a lot safer than they did a few years ago. Thank you that something like this is possible in Lüneburg! Very nice location, but beware !!! "Silly boyish prank" led to my broken collarbone. A 80cm long, 50cm wide and 40cm deep hole in the middle of the trail, which was carefully covered with foliage again brought me a forced break of 8 weeks.
