We used to meet up on our mopeds and practice off-roading in the old sandstone quarries that produced the building materials for Halberstadt's houses and churches. Of course, we had to be careful of the police and incurred a few ten-euro fines. Since hardly anyone gets a moped license these days, cyclists have taken over the area.

Basically, this shouldn't be advertised as an MTB highlight. It is a nature reserve with some buildings that cannot withstand constant traffic and are gradually being destroyed. These paths stroked here at Komoot are actually pure hiking paths, as well as the red lines are bridle paths and everyone who rides there just shits on nature for their personal fun. You're the ones fueling hatred for MTB... Sorry
