"Prösa" is the name given to a small village in the northeast of the old Liebenwerda Heath. The name is derived from the Slavic word "breza," also "briza" (brschiza), meaning "birch." The "Forsthaus Prösa" nature reserve covers a total of 3,325 hectares. The full story: http://www.hohenleipisch.de/verzeichnis/visitenkarte.php?mandat=76158

A beautiful place to linger. Especially on the second weekend in July each year, when the Rothstein Rock Festival is held at the foot of the rock. It's probably the largest folk festival in the area. A great place to celebrate.

In the Lower Lusatian Heath Landscape Nature Park, you can experience a diverse landscape. Highlights include the expansive heathlands in the "Forsthaus Prösa" nature reserve, which bloom in vibrant shades of pink and purple in late summer. You can also explore Brandenburg's largest orchard, featuring heritage fruit varieties in the Pomological Display and Educational Garden in Döllingen. Disused lignite mines and residual lakes have been transformed into impressive natural refuges, while the "Der Loben" moorland is an intact wetland. Large, unbroken forest areas also provide ideal conditions for rare animal species. Tip: At the "ErlebnisREICH Nature Park" visitor information center, you can learn fascinating facts about the history of the landscape and explore the treasures of the nature park in the interactive and multimedia exhibition. The former manor house, designed like a castle, is around 150 years old. The neo-baroque style with elements of Art Nouveau goes back to older predecessor buildings. The castle has a two-hectare park with a pond, which was laid out in the 19th century. The park is particularly impressive in late winter: thousands of snowdrops announce the approaching spring.

Small but nice climbing rock. There are some good secured pleasure routes on the east side. Slab and crack climbing is particularly popular here.

It may not be the Lüneburg Heath, but it's no less beautiful for that. The nature park doesn't have naturally occurring heather, but rather a result of military use, i.e., fires caused by shelling and tank tracks. 🌾Today, we moved along the sandy ground, sometimes very spongily, and repeatedly looked out into the expanse of the purple and pink heathland. 🪲A few beetles crawled on the ground, their shells a brilliant blue. ⛔💣Once we took a turn too early, we suddenly found ourselves in front of a warning sign stating that this area was not to be entered because it was formerly used for military purposes (a firing range for the East German National People's Army). There are probably still tons of unexploded bombs buried underground.
