The Kochquelle is one of many springs that feed the Kunsterbach in the Kunstertal. Incidentally, the spring got its name from the funny spectacle with which it brings the water to the surface: it resembles a merrily bubbling saucepan!

The Wichmann Linden tree in Neuruppin is a living natural monument – a tree that breathes history and enriches the city with its serene presence. This impressive winter linden stands near the city wall by the Neuruppin Monastery Church and is one of the oldest trees in the region. With an estimated age of over 700 years, it is not only a botanical highlight but also a symbol of both continuity and change. The tree is hollow after being struck by lightning, but this does not diminish its majestic appearance – on the contrary: it acts as a venerable guardian of the city's history. https://www.baumkunde.de/baumregister/3327-wichmannlinde_in_neuruppin/

Beautiful lake that you can walk around on a narrow path.

Fontane inspired me to travel through the Mark. And, of course, to hike too!

It's said that Sunday children can see Wichmann at a certain time on New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, I'm a Tuesday child.

The winter linden tree / Wichmann linden tree stands close to a slope on the city wall near the Neuruppin monastery church. The tree is over 700 years old and has since become hollow after being struck by lightning, but still blooms every year.

The mantle of the hollow trunk is broken in two places, so that the crown appears to rest on three pillars. Named after the legendary founder of the monastery, Father Wichmann. Before his death in 1270, Father Wichmann is said to have decided that he should be laid in a glass coffin and that this should be placed in a silver one. Furthermore, according to the old Germanic custom, a linden tree should be planted on his grave and when the linden tree had died, his grave could be opened, but not before. The winter linden tree stands near a slope on the city wall near the Neuruppin monastery church. The over 700-year-old tree, which has since become hollow after being struck by lightning, still blooms every year. Theodor Fontane travelled through what was then known as the "Mark" throughout his life. He published his travel reports continuously. The first volume appeared in 1862 under the title Wanderings through the Mark Brandenburg (later The County of Ruppin). From 1863 onwards, this was followed by The Oderland, Barnim-Lebus, 1872 Havelland and 1881 Spreeland. All of them were published regularly in various newspapers and in several editions as book editions until 1892, each one newly edited, supplemented and corrected.

The object in the courtyard of the "Resort Mark Brandenburg" is the fountain sculpture "Fontane" by the sculptor, painter and graphic artist Matthias Zágon Hohl-Stein, who also created the "Parzival am See" and the "Wichmann von Arnstein" in Neuruppin, among others. The fountain, which was originally only framed with steel plates in 2007, received some picture plates (including those by Fontane) as well as a quote from Theodor Fontane's "Wanderungen durch die Mark Brandenburg" in 2021.

Anyone hiking along the Rhin Lakes should definitely take a detour around the Kellenseen. An almost mystical, beautiful place! The two bodies of water are connected by a belt of reeds and fields of water lilies. Nestled in a large mixed beech forest area, they offer wonderful peace and quiet, not least to anglers. The water is rather cloudy, which is attributed to the extensive carp populations.

Source of the Kunsterbach; Namesake of the small town “Kunsterspring”. The spring is called the boiling spring because of the bubbling water that comes out of it.

His grave should remain as long as the linden tree is green. In 1908 the lime tree was declared weak and aging. At the same time, it is still growing vigorously today!

It looks as if the water is boiling - hence the name of the spring The water has a temperature of 8 degrees all year round

The Kochquelle offers the explorer a natural spectacle of a special kind. It almost looks like boiling water as the source pushes to the surface. The very large number of freshwater shrimp obviously feel at home in the constantly 8*C cold water.
