These fascinating geological formations, also known as scours, are a special feature of this river. Their formation is due to an erosive process caused by the turbulent flow of the water and the sedimentary material it carries. Irregularities in the riverbed, such as small depressions, bumps, or harder rock inclusions, can cause the water to swirl. These initial eddies create a rotating water movement with increased flow velocity and a grinding effect directly on the riverbed.

The hiking trail is very adventurous, if you dare to do it please be careful. There are a lot of trees on the route. You have to crawl over or under the trees. It is not suitable for everyone. This section should actually be closed for safety reasons.

The Meurasteine are a three-tiered wall on a rocky ridge and extend a little into the Schlagetal. The jagged rocky section is a good 500 million years old and consists of quartzite. You can do a little scrambling here, over steps hewn into the rock. A shelter also "floats" there.

The path here leads through a deeply cut valley with some very steep rocky cliffs. Sometimes you can also see the so-called whirlpools in the riverbed. These are round depressions in the slate rock that have been "ground" by the Schwarza over thousands of years with stones and rubble. They are protected as natural monuments because they are very rare.

The Schwarzatal is really beautiful, especially when it comes to hiking. Unfortunately, the traffic road also runs along the Schwarza. The traffic noise disturbs the whole thing a bit.

What a beautiful bike path there. A treat and one should do it.
