A circuit around the inner ring is about 1 km. And depending on how you walk, up to 1.5 km. There are different paths around it. Otherwise a typical lake. But well protected from us humans. One bathing area, the rest is cordoned off.

Nice opportunity for Berliners to find a little relaxation in nature.

Deep in the heart of the Tegel Forest, surrounded by whispering trees and the gentle rustling of leaves, stands the Ehrenpfortenberg - at 69 meters, the highest natural elevation in Reinickendorf. A special place where the history of Berlin can be felt with every root and every stone. It was here where Elector Frederick III, later crowned King of Prussia, had gates of honor built to mark his most important places. Even though the gate itself has long since fallen victim to time, the wooden summit cross, which was only erected in the 1990s, is a reminder of this era. Many years ago you could see all the way to Berlin Palace from this silent witness. Today you may still be able to see a path, but for the most part only trees surround the summit. An ideal terrain for forest lovers and those who want to experience the forest in its purest form. For adrenaline lovers, the hilly landscape also offers ideal conditions for cyclocross. But be careful! The dense network of paths can be confusing. If you get lost here, Komoot is recommended as a reliable navigation system. Joggers and dogs liven up the paths, especially on weekends, and the summit has a bench where you can relax. Here, in the partial shade, an imposing old beech tree sits enthroned, which, although it has already seen its best days, proudly and majestically overlooks the Ehrenpfortenberg. A place where you can breathe deeply, feel the history and enjoy the so-called "forest bathing" to the fullest. It is not only one of the rare places with a summit cross in Berlin, but also a real insider tip for everyone who appreciates the peace and magic of the forest.

Berlin urban nature. Quiet for city dwellers

Not just one of the rare summit crosses in Berlin. There is a bench to rest and a view of a great old beech tree, which unfortunately has already seen better days. Hopefully she holds out for a long time.

The Spekte was once a small stream that rose in the wetlands of the Havelland and flowed into the Havel near Spandau. In the 1960s, gravel was mined in the area for building material. As a result, the Great Spektesee was created along the Spekte lowlands in 1984, among other things. This was used as a gravel pond until 1978. The lakes were integrated into a green corridor in the course of renaturation with funds from compensation payments from Deutsche Bahn in 2003. The lake is around seven hectares in size and up to 11.9 meters deep.
