Nice spot with a bench on the rocky ridge. It's still a few meters to the cross. I haven't tried out how close the path gets to the cross. It's very exposed. Steep rock is clearly visible from the other side.

The "Golden Cross" shines from a mountain top far into the area. It is not a magnificent piece, but a beam cross made of two simple squared pieces of wood with a gold-plated front. When you see it, you immediately think of the effort it must have taken to erect it there on the dizzying mountain face. We do not know when or by whom it was erected; nor has legend taken hold of the cross, except in the following short report: Years ago, the Bernkastel local historian Josef Dillinger told me that not so many years ago a Bernkastel carpenter from the suburbs put the Golden Cross on the mountain ridge. When this craftsman grew older, he gave up his profession and made the cross from his workbench, which he probably did in fulfillment of a promise he made in times of need.

Beautiful castle ruins, a great dream loop starts here. But it's still worth a visit.
