The club essentially turns the laws of nature on their head because it rests on the ground with its narrower side and doesn't fall over. The rock looks like a menhir that Obelix rammed into the ground with his magical powers.

The monastery garden, which previously served as a fruit and vegetable garden for the monastery tenant, was converted into a monastery park in 1965. Students from the Technical University of Hanover (Horticulture Faculty) took on the planning of the redesign as part of a competition. During a sculpture symposium in 1984, several sculptures were placed in the monastery park. Among them was a wooden figure of the patron saint of the Lamspringe monastery church, St. Dionysius. The park thus also serves as an "open-air museum". Skates must be taken off when walking through the park - the paths are not asphalted. However, there are passable footpaths along the adjacent streets. https://www.lamspringe.de/Touristinfo-Freizeit/Touristinfo-Freizeit/Sehensw%C3%BCrdigkeiten/

Source: Einbeck-tourismus.de The large forest area on the Huberücken offers many hiking opportunities on the outskirts of Einbeck. The city forest on the Hube, one of many mountain ranges in the Lower Saxony mountains, offers a beautiful natural landscape and is a great destination for hikes and walks through the forest. From the Hube, visitors can hike up the Greener Berg or the Altendorfer Berg, for example. The Kaiser-Friedrich-Turm observation tower is located in the southern part of the Hube between Einbeck and the district of Negenborn. It was inaugurated in 1900, but nowadays it is no longer accessible. The Einbeck Fairy Tale Forest is located on the Hube, a nearly three-kilometer-long circular trail with 15 stations through various forest areas. You can start the circular route at an information board in the forest at the beginning of the circular route. Information on the landscape and use of the forest: In the past, the city forest was closely connected to the city, since a lot of wood was needed for construction projects, breweries and handicrafts. But limestone for mortar also came from the forest and it offered a livelihood for the cattle driven into the forest. The old trade route to the north led through the city forest and was used by carters when the Leineaue was swampy. The size of the urban forest has fluctuated over time with land use. Pastures that were still open were reforested at the end of the 19th century and the forest reached its current size of around 570 hectares. This includes meadows, a barbecue area, a fairytale forest and other recreational areas. Today the city forest serves primarily as a local recreation area and is managed according to the LÖWE criteria (long-term ecological forest development). Circular hiking trails are signposted by the city forestry office and set up on display boards on the Hube, on the Teichenweg in the eastern part of Einbeck and on the Eichendorffallee on the eastern edge of the Borntal.

There are currently a number of trees across the cliff path, you have to climb a bit to get through.

In the past, it was still allowed to climb here, as on a number of other rocks in Selter - the first line on the club is documented as early as 1935 - the rocks here are currently closed. Since the 1990s, attempts have repeatedly been made to reach agreements and compromises with users, politicians, authorities, nature conservation and owners - which even led to a unanimous resolution in the state parliament - but these were then repeatedly torpedoed (often by the authorities). The text by Goedeke in 'Hoch im Norden' is worth reading. There is currently a ban on entering the nature reserve, which would unfortunately mean that it would no longer be accessible to hikers.

The area around the Selterklippen has been a nature reserve since 2009. The nature reserve serves to protect the canyon and hillside mixed forest, the moss and fern vegetation and the cliffs themselves with their caves as a habitat for threatened bird species and bats. Accordingly, consideration is required here by the human visitor. In particular, it means to stay on the paths, even if the rocks magically attract you in search of better views ... https://www.nlwkn.niedersachsen.de/naturschutz/schutzgebiete/die_einzelnen_naturschutzgebiete/naturschutzgebiet-selterklippen-45040.html
