Various rose varieties, some of them heirlooms, adorn a relatively large square. They are surrounded by low hedges to protect them, creating the almost baroque-style feel. Thanks to the variety, the roses are practically always in bloom and fragrant throughout the season.

Statue of St. Christopher created in 1926 by the Bamberg sculptor Hans Leitherer. The base bears the following inscription: Saint Christopher carried the little crier From one shore to the other O carry every mother's child lightly and gently through life's floods Help the Burg ferryman carry the crowds across and across the river! Also help the German fatherland out of its deep distress and shame.

As a result of the purchase of the Geyer property by the Bishopric of Bamberg, a park was created under Prince-Bishop Johann Georg I Zobel von Giebelstadt, which was given the rest of its furnishings under the actual builder of the castle, Ernst von Mengersdorf. Due to the sale and parceling of the castle property due to secularization, the park disappeared from the cityscape. In 1936, the horticultural director Viktor Luster redesigned the wasteland in front of the city pool. The rose garden was decorated with two fountains by the sculptor Hans Leitherer, the northern one with the statue The Crouching One from 1938 and the southern one with The Crouching One from 1954. The garden fell victim to the construction of an underground car park and was restored in 1983 with simpler furnishings.

For 200 years, a ferry carried walkers across the Regnitz at this point. The village of Bug was a popular excursion destination. Ever since the opening of the café, which is still known today as the "Hotel Lieb", people made pilgrimages to Bug on Sundays. The steadily growing stream of visitors did not go unnoticed by the state and so the royal administrator of the grove, Stephan Freiherr von Stengel, decided to earn money from the Bambergers' enjoyment: in 1810, the ferry rights were leased to the highest bidder. The proceeds went towards maintaining the grove. Source: https://hainapp.de/25/25.html
