The Hohe Stein in the Fichtelgebirge is always worth a visit when hiking, if only because of the view, is right on the hiking trail, the ladder is securely anchored in the rock, you are only unsecured at the exit.

The Epprechtstein castle ruins are always worth a visit on a hike, if only because of the breathtaking view and the flair of the region. On our last tour we used the time to take a break.

The stone was always moving. But now the tree trunk, with which the whole thing was made to vibrate, has broken off.

From the castle ruins you have a panoramic view over the Waldstein range, to the Kornberg, to Schwarzenbach and Oberkotzau to Hof, south over the inner Fichtelgebirge to the Kösseine.

The Hoher Stein lies west of Kirchenlamitz and northeast of the Großer Waldstein. Although the Hoher Stein is not far from the Kleiner Waldstein, it is less well known and can only be reached by a detour. The ascent is not for everyone, as it involves a ladder. A head for heights is required.
