The Griessee is located in the Seeon Lakes nature reserve. It is a moor lake in the forest, is one of the warmest lakes in Bavaria and has a good fish population (source: Wikipedia, 2024).

Approximately 1 km after the roundabout at Hurtöst in the direction of Waging, an inconspicuous forest path branches off from the road to the left. This path is marked with a "pay attention to the right of way" sign, atypical for a forest path. Then it goes about 1 km into the forest until you see a sign to the right "Bitterstein". Either on foot or by mountain bike, another 500 m until you discover the Bitterstein behind young trees.
