The Kranika moorland is located very close to the Lütjensee. It is 96 hectares in size and has been a nature reserve since 1993. Part of the area used to be covered by water, but later moors and wet meadows developed. Today, rare plants such as sundew and orchid grow here. Many animals, including frogs, grass snakes and various bird species, also call this area home. A number of beautiful hiking trails lead along the edges and information boards provide exciting insights.

Beautiful wetland not far from the protected Kranika moorland. Once a large peat mining area, the landscape is now becoming more and more peaceful. Rare amphibians and native snake species find their habitat here.

As early as 460 BC, there are references to a game with stone balls - a precursor to today's game of boules. However, the boules facility in the Mölln spa park is not that old. The track was inaugurated in 2011 when the Mölln spa park was renovated. The facility is open to the public free of charge during the park's opening hours. We were unlucky that the path we had chosen led us into the wet moor and we couldn't continue. You can see that clearly on our tour. But many paths lead to the same goal :)

To commemorate the 600th anniversary of Eulenspiegel's death, the Mölln sculptor Karlheinz Goedtke created the bronze figure of the jester in 1950 to crown the fountain next to Kirchberg. This popular depiction of the jester has become a symbol of the town. Goedtke also created the bronze relief of the poet George Bernard Shaw next to the fountain. Shaw was named an honorary Eulenspiegel by the town in 1950. However, he misunderstood Mölln's offer and declared himself an "honorary citizen," which the town council subsequently approved. People often meet at the Eulenspiegel fountain for a souvenir photo. The mischievous figure is particularly polished in two places – there's a reason for this: Anyone who rubs Till's thumb and toe simultaneously while making a wish will be lucky.
