Even though the oak tree is now horizontal, the place is still worth a visit. There is a double bench and a table for a nice rest.

The crown oak stands directly on Sälzerweg at the three-town corner Schwarzenberg - Kirchhof - Melsungen. Unfortunately, the old crown oak was rotten and collapsed in January 2022. A new oak tree was planted in summer 2022 and a new seating area consisting of two benches and a table was set up. The old crown oak remains as dead wood in its original location. Every year on May 1st, TSV Schwarzenberg organizes a small festival at the Kroneneiche - as a destination for hikers.

The all-round view from the castle and the tower is simply great!

May 1 Hike with the Ebike

I drive the route very often, it is varied and you can take a nice rest at the lakes.

The old crown oak was deliberately left as deadwood and provides an important habitat for moss, fungi, beetles and other insects. In autumn 2022, a beautiful seating area was set up here. On May 1st, the crowned oak is a popular meeting place and also a refreshment station for hikers!
