For all those who want to try to read the time without using their wristwatch or mobile phone - at least in appropriate weather conditions - the functional principle of a sundial is explained here.

The most accurate time reading possible with sundials depends on the exact orientation to the south (or in the opposite direction, north). This is done with the help of the compass. The connection between folding sundials and compasses goes back to Georg von Peuerbach.

Not only the Wiedtal itself is worth a tour. From there you can turn off at several points up to the Westerwaldhöhen and from there you can ski down charming routes with a great view back into the Wiedtal. It's a bit more strenuous, but it's easy to do, especially for e-bikers, and it's almost a must.
