In contrast to the remaining holes from the gypsum mining era, the Faulen Luch or Faulen See is a natural lake formed during the Ice Age. Due to gypsum mining, the groundwater level dropped, and a promontory emerged, which is still visible today.

On the Fontane hiking trail there is this varied section through a narrow ravine. Gorge might be an exaggeration, but the trail is in Brandenburg, where every manor house is called a castle.

In the direction of Kesselberg there is a beautiful gorge path uphill.

The pines are very stunted and crooked, it looks like a witch's forest here. It is the result of the fact that in ancient times the branches were harvested to be used as bedding. Increasingly, paths come from all directions. In autumn, mushroom pickers appear everywhere here out of nowhere. Everything here is full of mushrooms at the moment.

A sandy paradise with rustic pine trees, sandy open spaces, mistletoe-decorated freestanding deciduous trees and hilltops, some even with distant views and summit crosses (Fuchsberg).

The entire Blankensee is under nature protection. The plank bridge is the only part of the 280-hectare lake that is in contact with civilization. The Blankensee is surrounded by an intact reed belt, several hundred meters wide in places, and represents a valuable biotope. Great crested grebes and other rarer seabirds can also be observed from the much sought-after benches on the Bohlensteg. Or just eat a snack before you continue hiking in the Glau mountains...
